UDC has free classes at its fitness center and pool – if you’re 60 or older

April 19, 2017

Some of the BODYWISE classes are being held in the fitness room at the new UDC Student Center.

Free fitness classes at the University of the District of Columbia make it easy to stay in shape. The only catch is – you have to be 60 years old or older to participate!

The BODYWISE program is administered by the Institute of Gerontology, which is part of the UDC College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Studies (CAUSES), and funded by the DC Office of Aging.

It offers low-impact aerobics classes and yoga in the new fitness room at the UDC Student Center, and water aerobics at the Wilson Aquatic Center. Again, all classes are for those of us aged 60 and older, and they are free of charge.

All you need to do is sign up using the BODYWISE forms linked on this page. They include a medical release that your physician needs to sign. The photograph and video permission form is optional. You can then mail or bring your completed application to the Institute of Gerontology office:

University of the District of Columbia
Institute of Gerontology
4200 Connecticut Avenue NW
Building 39, Room 101
Washington, DC 20008

The next step is to call 202-274-6697 to schedule a brief orientation session. Once the orientation has been conducted you will receive a membership
card to start your classes.

Here is a schedule of classes in our area:
