You – yes, you – could lead a Rock Creek cleanup. Learn how during in-person or webinar training March 14 & 18

March 11, 2020 by FHC Leave a Comment

If you have participated in a Rock Creek Conservancy stream cleanup, you know the drill: Listen to a safety briefing, sign a waiver, grab gloves and a trash bag, and go! The leaders of these cleanups go through 90 minutes to two hours of training – that’s all. And the organization is hosting training sessions on March 14th and 18th for potential Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup volunteers. You can even attend the March 18th training from the comfort of your home.

From Rock Creek Conservancy:

Rock Creek Conservancy Recruiting Leaders for Extreme Cleanup events!

Did you know this year marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day? Rock Creek Conservancy needs help to make this year’s Extreme Cleanup on Saturday, April 18 one that will inspire generations to come.

Each spring, Rock Creek Conservancy organizes the Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup, with volunteer events at over 70 locations along the 33-mile length of Rock Creek. We wouldn’t be able to do this without the committed volunteers who help lead these events!

Can you join us as a 2020 Extreme Cleanup site leader? Time is running out to register and get supplies for your site for the April cleanup! If you are interested in leading an Extreme Cleanup event, please provide details here by Friday, March 13.

If you have not been trained at one of our previous Stream Team Leader or Extreme Cleanup trainings, please register for and attend one of the following options:

1. March 14 – 12-2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Library, 3160 16th Street NW, Washington, DC (Register here)
2. Just Added – March 18 – 7-8:30 p.m. webinar (Register here)

Please contact jbuff@rockcreekconservancy.org or mhall@rockcreekconservancy.org if you have any questions.

Forest Hills Connection is produced by volunteers, and supported by you. We appreciate your support – financial and otherwise. Here’s how to donate.
