Neighbors Recommend: Huntley Meadows Park

February 12, 2016 by FHC

David Cohen writes: A woman who has known my wife Ruth since high school saw a few of my wildlife photos. She recommended that I visit Huntley Meadows Park (3701 Lockheed Blvd, Alexandria, VA 22306). I had never heard of it.

A 45-minute drive from Forest Hills, the park extends for more than 1,500 acres. Here are a few of the things I saw on a morning visit on Sunday, January 10, and an afternoon visit on Saturday, January 16, all from a boardwalk and observation tower through the wetlands and a gentle trail through the forest.
