ANC 3F’s chair, Adam Tope, is inviting members of the community to put their heads together on traffic problems on 37th Street between Porter and Van Ness Streets NW. People have spoken up at past ANC meetings about pedestrian and vehicle safety concerns along this stretch of 37th, which is adjacent to the Hearst and Sidwell Friends schools.
So the ANC has formed a committee to study and address the problems, and is inviting the community to join in. Details of the committee’s first meeting, a conference call tomorrow afternoon, are below. And Adam invites you to email him with ideas and concerns.

We will hold the first meeting of the 37th Street Committee on Wednesday February 26th at 2 PM.
We will hold this as a conference call. The dial-in is as follows:
Dial-in Number: (712) 432-1212
Meeting ID: 560-354-943
If you wish to meet in person for the meeting instead of dialing in, please email me and we can meet in Dupont at my office.
If you cannot dial-in to the call at 2 on Wednesday, please email me as well and we can discuss your thoughts separately this week at a time convenient to you.
The topic of discussion is quite short and I expect the meeting will last about 30 minutes:
- What are the issues you see with 37th Street
- What do you think are possible solutions
Following the meeting, I will put together notes on problems and solutions and circulate those for community comment. The goal will be to build a decision with community consensus so that a vote can be taken at the March ANC meeting on March 18th.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Adam
