Got kids at DC public schools? The mayor wants feedback on their travels

December 15, 2015

Walk to School Day at Murch elementary in 2012.

Many of the children in our neighborhood attend nearby public schools and public charter schools that are not so close by. How do they get to school? On foot, on bicycles, in cars, on mass transit. Mayor Bowser’s administration wants to know about the children’s experiences and their parents’ impressions of the daily trek to school. The final question allows the opportunity to comment more specifically about safety concerns and need for better transit options.

This is the survey notice from DC Public Schools:

As part of the District’s effort towards better serving its public school students, the Mayor has assembled a Transportation Working Group of representatives across DC Government agencies to address school-based transportation issues across all wards. The Working Group has put together two (2) surveys, provided in both English and Spanish, which invite parents of students and adult students to give their thoughts and concerns about travel to and from school. Both surveys can be found below. Currently, there is no deadline for the survey; however, the goal is to get as many responses prior to December 22. Please take a few minutes and fill out one or both surveys (if both apply) so the Working Group can better understand your needs and concerns regarding transportation.
