Support Van Ness Main Street’s efforts to support small businesses during its June 15-25 silent auction

June 12, 2020 by FHC

We can’t gather for a gala or swing into a soiree for Van Ness Main Street. But we can spend the next two weeks supporting the main street’s mission by taking part in its online silent auction.

The auction goes live at noon on Monday, June 15th and closes at noon on Thursday, June 25th. Van Ness Main Street will post the link here and send it out to its newsletter subscribers (email [email protected] to subscribe) at the appointed time.

Among the more than 20 items going up for bid are teeth whitening sessions from Connecticut Ave. Cosmetic Dentistry, home decor from Victory Dance Creative and Naked Decor, and meals and gift certificates from restaurants including Sfoglina and Comet Ping Pong. The main street is still accepting donated items, so email [email protected] if you’d like to contribute.

Van Ness Main Street’s mission is to attract and support local businesses and make Van Ness and Forest Hills a vibrant economic and cultural hub. That mission has become especially difficult and urgent this year, as Covid-19 has small businesses fighting for their survival. VNMS was there from the beginning, quickly delivering thousands of dollars in grants to businesses within its boundaries.

Now Van Ness Main Street is seeking to raise $12,000 by June 30th to qualify for necessary accelerated funding by the Department of Small and Local Business Development. It’s currently a third of the way there.
