Tune into these public meetings for updates on Soapstone sewers, Rock Creek trail rehab and the Connecticut Ave. reversible lanes study

March 15, 2021

Public meetings in the next couple of weeks will discuss some major projects of major import to Rock Creek and Soapstone Trail users and neighbors, and to Connecticut Avenue users and neighbors. All of these meetings will conducted virtually.

March 16th – Soapstone Valley sewer rehabilitation

The last time DC Water provided an update, we were looking at a winter 2021-22 start date for the sewer system rehabilitation and stream restoration in the Soapstone Valley. At times, the project will close sections of the Soapstone trail and impact traffic on Connecticut Avenue and other streets nearby. The agency has been invited back to ANC 3F to provide a status report.

The March 16th agenda also includes a draft resolution on calling for public feedback on DDOT’s Connecticut Avenue reversible lane study (more on that below). The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and is accessible via Zoom and on the phone (301-715-8592, Meeting ID: 937 1042 0949; Passcode: 434258)

March 18th – Rock Creek Trail rehabilitation

The 3.7-mile paved, multi-use Rock Creek Park trail and the bridges between Georgetown to Broad Branch Road will be rehabilitated and reconstructed. The public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on March 18th will include an overview of the project from DDOT, the construction schedule, and what to expect during construction.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. on March 18th. Click here to join or find call-in information.

March 30th and April 1st – Connecticut Avenue Reversible Lane Safety and Operations Study

After providing updates at several ANC meetings in February (you can watch ANC 3F’s February 26th special meeting here), DDOT is hosting two public meetings on the Connecticut Avenue reversible lane safety and operations study.

On March 30th and April 1st, DDOT will present the latest updates and recommendations. The presentations at both meetings will be the same, and include two one-hour long “learning rooms” where participants can dig into reviews of the concepts and the traffic and parking analysis.

The March 30th meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by the learning rooms at 11 a.m. (concept review/evaluation) and noon (traffic analysis/parking).

The April 1st meeting begins at 7 p.m., and will be preceded by the learning room sessions at 5 p.m. (concept review) and 6 p.m. (traffic analysis).

Click here to join either meeting or learning rooms.

To call in: 202-860-2110 (Access Code: 160 356 5987, followed by the # key). The WebEx system will prompt you for an Attendee ID; this is not required. Press the # key to join the meeting.
